My name is Sara Baum. I'm a former shelter employee (i worked "the floor"
with the guests) and now am in graduate school at univ. of illinois
chicago for urban planning and public policy.

I am working on a paper which addresses the barriers and
possibilities for Organizing among people who are homeless, with a focus
on the ways in which shelter environments can shape/hinder organizing

I am attempting to find information about the not-so-recent history of
homeless organizing in the US and elsewhere...I have read about the
"wobblies" and am interested in finding out more about their organizing
efforts as well as other groups in the late nineteenth century and early
twentieth century.

Does anyone know of a good resource?
