NON-STOP READING AT MU TO AID HUNGRY, HOMELESS
Howard Fuller promises to read from author Langston Hughes at the
sixth annual "Writers Harvest: The National Reading" at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Marquette University's Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave., Room
248.
Fuller, former Milwaukee superintendent of schools and now a
Marquette professor of education, will be joined by university faculty and
staff in reading from their favorite works of literature to raise money for
the hungry and homeless. Each will read 10 minutes; the non-stop reading
will last until 5 p.m.
Tickets are $5 and are good for the whole day. They can be purchased
at the Alumni Memorial Union ticket office and at the door. All proceeds go
to Second Harvest of Milwaukee.
Marquette, with support from Miller Brewing, was the top fund-raiser
nationally among colleges and universities last year.
