Another Tory pre-election ploy, and empty justification for their
bailing out of
responsibility for provision of affordable housing. As it now stands,
responsibility for housing is being downloaded to the municipalities in
Ontario -
and they can't afford it. No more housing is being built.

The consequences? As housing stocks become privatized, landlords are
going to take
advantage of the new (grossly misnamed) 'Tenant Protection Act' to evict
existing
low-income renters and boost rents to market values (Which in Toronto
are among the
highest in N. America). You think we have a homeless disaster now...
