The police had threatened to arrest all people, servers, homeless, at our
regular sunday serving (Oct. 26).
We had gotten the word out, and the outpouring of support was
overwhelming!
Over 150 people showed up in support of Food-Not-Bombs, some coming from
as far as Connecticut, Virginia and DC. Within the Baltimore community
there were folks from many collectives and groups, including The Eddie
Conway Support Committe, Crasshole Collective, International Friends and
family of Mumia, Claustrophobia, BERN, AFSC, Amnesty Intn'l, IWW, ARA
Anti-Death penalty groups, young people from the surrounding community,
etc. Especially significant was the attendence of many for whom arrest is
a very serious matter - homeless folks who we hadn't seen in months came
from all over the city in support! At least 20 people including FNB'ers
where willing to risk arrest by continuing our sharing.
The Police never showed - in uniform - although some experienced activists
recognized two men in the crowd as undercover red squad cops.
For the next period of time, extra people will attend the servings to
discourage arrests, and support anyone who is arrested. If the support
remains strong, we will try to start a second feeding.
Especial thanks go to Max Obuszewski, from the AFSC, for a
Civil-disobediance training, and to Dwight Sullivan , of the ACLU, for
legal support.

Sunday Oct.18th : Baltimore Food not Bombs members were threatened
with arrest while serving food in Thames Park today. Police demanded that
FNB vacate the park immediately and not return, under threat of arrest and
confiscation of all Food not Bombs materials. While no arrests were made
today, (the cops showed up as we were leaving), further confrontation
seems unavoidable. We need all the help we can get... anyone in the
Balt/DC area that can help organize/participate in
protests/nonviolent disobedience, cook , videotape/ photograph, or provide
media or legal contacts, etc., let us know immediately: next Sunday (Oct.
25) is going to be critical in determining the future of FNB Baltimore.
Please contact us at 410:534:6761 if you can help us out.
