Here is some information from another anti-poverty group based out of
Toronto. I know people are bitching about the fact that most of the
information is from Toronto Based groups, But WE DON'T HAVE ANY HERE!!
If there is they are hard to locate..

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CSAR (Consolidation for Social Awareness and Responsibility) is an
internet based campaign supporting the homeless. We use the internet
to distribute prewritten letters designed to be easily printed out and
mailed (by regular mail) to select ogenesisoe decision makers. Using
the ready-made letters supplied on the website, one can vote to
support the homeless in about 7 minutes. Of course, you may also
write your own letters. Please use the names and addresses provided.
Although the challenge is clearly global, we are focusing on one
particular urban area to more easily get an enduring start for the
global chain. From there we shall proceed to build - one link at a
time. Every letter is a link and every link is important. The success
of the chain depends on your simple act of participation! Can we wrap
it 'round the world? Will you help?
We strive to unite identified leaders of business, academia,
professionals, and politicians to use their
influence/resources/positions to effect an enduring, comprehensive,
and effective response to the homeless challenge. Instead of dealing
with the oalligatorsoe on an individual basis, is it possible to drain
the swamp? We note that we are not only interested in giving the
challenged a compassionate ohand outoe; but, we are very interested in
giving those who want it a ohand upoe.
Enthusiasm for CSAR stems from the belief that, for the first time,
it targets for involvement two invaluable groups of persons heretofore
on the periphery of this most humane cause: 1. Regular normal citizens
- those people for whom the study of the homeless is not a career or a
professional interest but who have an abiding interest in supporting
the rights/privileges/safety/healing etc. of the homeless/near
homeless. People who are converted or near conversion to our cause
but wonder how they can help - simply. Now they can make a difference
in about 7 miinutes. 2. Strategic Decision Makers - some of those
people in positions of power and influence by virtue of their
personal/corporate/expert successes who, when motivated ( by our many
letters?), are already strategically placed to lend us support for
affecting public awareness/opinion/action - on a profoundly tangible
and effective level. These are a sampling of the pivotal decision
makers. They have, by virtue of their positions, at their disposal,
many skills and management tools which have already been proven
effective in their respective professional activities and now we have
an opportunity to support and encourage them as they use (hopefully)
these same talents on behalf of the homeless.
WE ARE NOT just suggesting they can influence distribution of funds
for research, assistance programs and the like; although, we certainly
laud and welcome such valued additions to the cause. WE ARE also
suggesting that by engaging their support, we can come more quickly to
the ocritical massoe of attitude/opinion/resources needed for an
enduring success - with respect to the root causes. CSAR is quite
different from the other programs that we have seen offered to date.
CSAR does not target the converted but rather seeks to involve those
who are either unclear about how they can lend support (group #1
above) or those who are as of now unaware/unmotivated ( group #2) to
use their established resources on our behalf.
The CSAR site is organized. It loads very quickly; and, it is full of
information. Bookmark it and visit often as it changes frequently.
This release is accessible in the oPublic Relationsoe section of the
webiste. Please help spread the word and pass it on to all in your
email address book. http://www3.sympatico.ca/truegrowth/csar.htm
