REPLY=========================================
hi: this is eric writing for Boston/Cambridge Food Not Bombs. We too
faced police threat of arrest and confiscation when we started serving in
the parks. what worked for us was to get church people, with church
banners, and a city council-person and a state rep. to stand with us on
the day arrests were expected. we lost a few hundred dollars worth of
equipment and had to go to court on several arrest warrants but when the
authorities saw that almost everybody had the same reaction: "don't the
police have anything better to do than to harass people who are feeding
the hungry" they apparently decided to let us be, permit or not. we have
served many thousands of meals since then with only the most minor
hassle.
good luck to you. i wish you were closer so we could offer more than
verbal support.
thanks also for the good food you cooked for the War Resisters League
Pentagon takeover last monday.
CLIMB OVER THE WALL!!!
PEACE, FOOD AND HOUSES
