Subject: Welfare and Public Schools
I am researching how public schools are reacting/should be reacting to
welfare reform - particularly with time limits approaching in many states.
Specifically my research entails (1) what is the predicted impact on
schools and children, (2) what are schools doing in response (3) what
should schools be doing/what do they have the capacity to do and (4) what
are other social institutions doing that schools could partner with. I am
focusing my research on Boston Public Schools, but am interested in
information across the country for models. If anyone knows of research on
this topic, or of school districts that are strategically planning for the
impact of welfare reform on their students - I would be very happy to hear
about it.
Thanks
