Ontario: Backing for homeless move

National Post

HAMILTON - Claudette Bradshaw, the federal
Minister of Labour, said on Saturday she is in
favour of a proposal to move homeless people from
Toronto to an abandoned village near Barrie, Ont.
Groups that work with the city's homeless have
suggested the village, a former military base and
home for the mentally ill, could house about 600
people. Ian Beard, mayor of the township that
includes the facility, is opposed to the plan.
