If we are fighitng to end homelessness. It is time
the all pro-homeless forces sat down and got down to
business. This is noty a game. And I don't see anyone
getting anything done.
I for one I am a militant, I have been a militant
since I was homeless. The Homeless Power Union was
organized while I was homeless. Not to mention I am in
a larger organization too:

Here is he HPU Statment of Purpose:
1) The Homeless Power Union is dedicated to fight By
Any Means Necessary to obtain adequate shelter, food,
Health care (physical & mental), sleeping quarters,
bathing
facilities, Decent employment, and qualified staffing
of homeless shelters. We areformed and organized under
the complete democratic control of the person in need
of
these services.
2) The HPU is dedicated to building a mass militant,
integrated, and independent union of homeless people,
and their supporters, with the goal of fighting for
the political power of homeless people, workers,
youth, minorities, women, Gay & Lesbian, and all
opressed people.
3) The HPU is dedicated to fight for its goals with
the only tactics capable of bringing victory: militant
mass action and demonstrations of our independent
power. The HPU will not rely on the police, the
courts, the city council, Republicans, Democrats, or
any government organizations, or force outside
ourselves to succeed in winning our demands.
4) The HPU recognize that homelessness is initiated
and perpetuated by our nations profit-based capitalist
system. This profit-making exploitative system uses
homlessness and unemployment as a means to attack and
degrade the majority of the people of our society. The
HPU is dedicated to fighting to eliminate homelessness
altogether, to win full, decent paying jobs, andd
truly helpful services. Therefore we see our fight
also as part of the fight against capitalism and for
the realization of full equality and genuine democracy
in or society in the interest of the workers the
youth, and the opressed.
Politicians won't solve the war on poverty. The ne
war on poverty is to progressive for them. They are
only interested in who will line their pockets.
Why there is even debate on what politician these
"Plans of Action" wil;l mgo to confuses me. As a
Marxist/Trotskyist, I have no need to rely on the
state, because the state doesn't care about the
homeless, the poor, or the working class. This should
have been obvious!
Why do think there are cops killing the homeless, and
why youth find it funny to beat the homeless up. It is
capitalism and ruling-class politics at play, mixed in
with alot of NIMBY.
This is why the movement to End homelessness is weak.
If we can't rely on our independent power, then there
is no need to even try to fight. Because you will get
crushed.
George W. Bush doesn't care about the hmeless!
The movement to end homelessness needds to take on a
militant character. These liberal and pacifist idea
will only to ehat happened in the Allans Garden
Ocuupation. Those kinds of loses cannot happen.
Organizing is critical, and so is being against the
state. They goalot of people arrested, when they could
of tried to fight the police and they organized
properly they would of had the necessary forces to do so.
