The United States Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF USA) is
working to keep people informed about important issues
affecting children around the world through its new UNICEF
USA Alert! Web Site. The site is a companion to the UNICEF
Alert mailing list and provides up to the minute information
on crucial initiatives.

The current focus of the UNICEF USA Alert! site is on
Hurricane Mitch and UNICEF's relief efforts in Central
America. The hurricane has left over 10,000 people dead and
more than 2 million people homeless. UNICEF is working to
distribute food, essential drugs, clean water, and blankets
-- all crucial needs for the hundreds of thousands of
hurricane victims.

The U.S. Committee for UNICEF hopes to use the new Alert!
site to raise awareness and concern about UNICEF's Hurricane
Mitch relief efforts and to raise money in support of its
continued efforts. One-hundred percent (100%) of all
contributions received for Hurricane Mitch relief efforts
will be used directly to help the victims of this disaster.
