Interesting.  It is true that there is a lack of affordable housing
everywhere.  It is also true that one never know what will be the "spark"
(as somewhere it was mentioned in the article) that "perks" people up,
raises their self esteem and confidence, and starts them into that upward
spiral to get off the streets.

We let people who come into our Welcome Mat Day Center use our computer that
is connected to the internet for their own email, to look for jobs, etc.
but not many or interested.  But does that matter that maybe only 3 or 4
have used it since we started doing this?  No, because changes are made
slowly, self esteem and confidence is raised slowly, sometimes it may be one
baby step at a time.

Okay, so the internet connection does not solve the problem of lack of
affordable housing.  BUT maybe sometime, somewhere, someone who has been
given this opportunity will find their way back into a job, into an
apartment, and off the streets.  And if it is only one here, and one there
it is worthwhile.
