Hi gang,
Yes, OCAP is very busy. Our "dear" Mike Harris has seen to that. There
is another Day Of Action coming up. It is June 8/98 in Kingston. OCAP,
most likely, will be going with the Postal Workers as we have for the
other Days Of Action. Details are sketchy at this point, but stay tuned
for updates.
Having successfully driven workfare out of the public, non-profit
sector, with the help of North York Fights Back(NYFB), we will now be
fighting it in the private sector. Our "kinder, gentler Mike Harris",
(God, isn't that an oxymoron?) is planning to introduce workfare into
the private sector. OCAP is proposing that "Work Not Workfare"
committees be set up around the province. They would be ready to take on
businesses and employers who would take on workfare slaves. They would
make workfare unattractive to the employers by way of warning letters,
pickets, disruptive tactics, or boycotts directed at businesses that
would be interested in workfare. These committees would also help the
people forced onto workfare to fight for their rights as workers. We
want the employers to see that workfare is not worth the price tag of
aggravation that comes with it.
Whew! I think that's enough for now. I don't want to bore you with all
this OCAP talk. Hey, send us some of your positive energy. I think we're
going to need it. Resist and fight!
Bonnie
