"PBS DOCUMENTARY ON WELFARE REFORM" While the media have been
celebrating dramatic reduction in the welfare caseloads, there has been
little reporting on the fate of those who have left the rolls. On June 5
at 9pm EST, PBS will air "Ending Welfare As We Know It," an
investigation of what happens to families after benefits end. Family
support programs are encouraged to host a forum in their communities. A
discussion leaders' guide is available. Contact Annalisa Hill at WNET,
email: hillanna@wnet.org, 212/560-6816. (Children, Youth & /Child

    "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises
                            in moral philosophy;
         that is, the search for a superior moral justification for
                   selfishness." (John Kenneth Galbraith)
