BIKE WEEK (May 18 - May 23) is coming up soon, and Bikes Not Bombs has some
exciting activities planned for it.

Monday (5/18) - Benefit Party for Bikes Not Bombs - 4PM to midnight
Redbones Barbecue, 55 Chester St., Davis Square, Somerville, 628-2200.  A
Redbones pulled pork, barbecue beef, or chicken sandwich; a pint of Pilgrim
Ale; valet parking for your bike; and a raffle ticket -- all for $5.  The
party is co-sponsored by The Ride Magazine, Wheelworks (locations in
Somerville and Belmont), Independent Fabrications Inc., Mass Bike (formerly
Bicycle Coalition of Massachusetts), New England Mountain Bike Association,
and Pilgrim Ale.  The $5 per person cost will be donated to Bikes Not

Wednesday (5/20) - Fix Your Bike at Bikes Not Bombs - 7PM to 9PM
There will be free access to our bike shop tools and stands to fix up your
bike at our Bicycle Recycling and Youth Training Center (59 Amory St. #103,

Friday (5/22)
Great Commuter Race: Bicycle vs. MBTA vs. Car
Three teams using three different forms of transportation will leave from
Egleston Square to go to the Boston Bicycle Festival at City Hall Plaza /
Government Center (see below).  Who will arrive at the Bike Festival first?

Friday (5/22)
Boston Bicycle Festival - 11AM to 2PM
Sponsored by the City of Boston:  Free food and entertainment.  Raffle
prizes.  Bicycle business and advocacy exhibits.  Eccentric bicycles
display.  Addresses by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino (noon) and Massachusetts
Secretary of Transportation Partick Moynihan.  Bicycle safety rodeo.  Watch
for the Great Commuter race teams as they arrive!  Save your biggest cheers
for the bike team!

Saturday (5/23) - Unity Ride - 10:30AM
BNB's annual Unity Ride (a fun, easy family ride of 8 to 10 miles through
great Boston neighborhoods with a picnic at Castle Island) begins at
10:30AM at our Center (59 Amory St. #103, Roxbury).  The drawing for our
raffle (prize: Univega Hybrid 21 Speed Bike) will be held at the conclusion
of the ride, back at the Center.  Proceeds firm the raffle aid youth
services in Boston and bike projects in Haiti and Nicaragua.
