FWD: New from HUD USER

The April edition of Recent Research Results (RRR) is now available
from the HUD USER Web site at:

RRR contains short summaries of reports recently published under the
auspices of HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R).
Articles in this month's edition include:

     * Welfare Reform's Effect on Public Housing
     * Homeownership Hits Highest Rate in History
     * New Research Offers Standards for Building Homes with Steel Frames
     * Rehab Guide Highlights Innovative Design

The 1999 Proposed Fair Market Rents (FMRs) are also available at:

FMRs determine the eligibility of rental housing units for the Section
8 Housing Assistance Payments program. FMRs are gross rent estimates
and include shelter rent and the cost of utilities, except telephone.
HUD sets FMRs to assure that a sufficient supply of rental housing is
     available to program participants.
