UPDATE - MAY 4/98

We were unable to set definite times for our planned leafletting
sessions outside select APA workshops (In addition to the June 3 event)
as the person who has their schedule was unable to attend the meeting on
April 30. Hopefully we should have some definite times scheduled
following our next meeting on May 14. At this time we also hope to have
our educational material consolidated and will prepare an initial press
release.

Confirmation - Food Not Bombs will be serving a free vegetarian meal to
participants at the June 3 protest! FNB has been providing nutritious
meals since 1980 to participants at political events in the United
States and elsewhere as well as to homeless persons (for which they have
faced widespread persecution). It's great these folks are supporting us!

Outreach is going well - the initial messages on the Internet drew
considerable interest from both the United States and Canada. An
extensive local faxing is underway as well as plans for street
postering. (Thanks to the Patient's Council at Queen Street Mental
Health Centre for photocopies). A public service announcement is being
prepared for broadcast on CKLN-FM (88.1). Looks like some thought will
have to go into the subject of accomodation but we are a group with
literally zero resources. I'm going to list a few relatively inexpensive
places which turned up on a web search.

(I've listed a few places here in downtown Toronto which are within
walking distance of the protest site - a more thorough listing of
accomodations can be found at http://www.toronto.com).

Parking in the downtown area is both expensive and scarce, plus our cops
are extremely quick to haul out the citation books - or to call a tow
truck. People driving in are advised to park in the outskirts somewhere
and travel downtown by public transit. Parking is available at a number
of suburban subway stations - call the Toronto Transit Commission at
(416) 393-4636 for more information on parking, transit schedules and
routes.

That's all for now - see you on June 3!
