Hello all,

I wanted to let all of you know we lost a wonderful and strong voice in
the Rhode Isalnd homeless community. Rosemary Potter died in her dreams
last week of am apparent brain embolism.

Most of you would not have heard of Rosemary. She never wore a badge
that said "I help the homeless", she just simply helped. Rosemary was
very strong willed and not afraid to say what was on her mind and often
times her and I did not see eye to eye. But, she was almost always there
when I needed her working along side me doing outreach to the most
destitute of the homeless or making the political heads of state really
listen to what we were saying.

My friend was not a saint by any stretch of the road, like all of us she
suffered with her demon. It was through her suffering that she
understood and reached out to those who were also suffering. Often
times, more than I she understood the nature of street life. No matter
what you did or how the last time you treated her she always said hello.

When I walk down the steps of a soup kitchen or attend my next meeting,
I will remember my friend and fellow activist. She will be sorely
missed.
