Open Studio/L.A. is the collaborative partnership of three arts
organizations, Visual Communications, OnRamp and LA Freewaves, committed
to building an effective training program and a diverse on-line
communications network of information and creativity among Los Angeles
arts communities. The consortium aims to integrate both access and
design, and to encourage dialogue and exchange through the Open
Studio/LA web site, bulletin boards, and listservs.

Later this spring applications for a more intensive series will be
available for free beginner to advanced internet training and access
with intensive but flexible schedule between June and August. Websites
created by the selected participants will be hosted free by Visual
Communications for up to a year. In addition, artists and youths
knowledgeable in web design and internet access will be hired to assist
artists and arts organizations this summer for this series of
multi-level workshops. (www.freewaves.org)

Responsible for this first phase of Open Studio/L.A., L.A. Freewaves is
a media arts network that produces festivals, workshops, curriculum
materials and a website to encourage artistic and social expression,
serving the needs of artists and audiences alike in Los Angeles. See
