Copyright Office Issues Report On Distance Learning

On May 25 the Copyright Office issued its Distance Learning Report. The Digital
Millennium Copyright Act, Public Law 105-304, passed last October required the
Copyright Office to prepare a report on distance learning and to make
recommendations to Congress about any legislation considered appropriate
to promote distance education.

The 348 page report may be seen on the Copyright Office Website at
<http://www.loc.gov/copyright/> under *What's New.* The Adobe Acrobat reader is
required to open the report.

This is a very comprehensive and balanced report that will be very valuable to
all those who are interested in the copyright issues involved in distance
learning. An analysis of the recommendations of this report will appear in next
months community building issues report.
