Street Newspaper Conference Set for Cleveland, July 22--25

The North American Street Newspaper Association (NASNA) will hold its 4th
annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio at Case Western University on July
22--25.

Hosted this year by Cleveland's Homeless Grapevine, all street newspapers
from the U.S. and Canada are encouraged to attend, as well as
individuals/groups interested in starting a street newspaper in their own
community.

Keynote speakers include:  U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich and Lee
Stringer, author of Grand Central Winter: Stories from the Street.  Lee
Stringer got his start as a writer for New York City's Street News.

Workshops:  Recruiting and training vendors, starting a street newspaper,
fundraising, civil rights issues/news of streets/urban journalism, covering
urban issues, getting homeless people into leadership, long term planning
for sustainability, working with volunteers, exploitation of homeless
people, and the future activities of NASNA.

Costs:  Housing available for $18 per night.  Registration:  $45 (NASNA
members); $55 (non-NASNA members).  Registration fee includes breakfast and
lunch.
