We are a group of homeless people who are camped out right now in front
of our City Hall in Santa Monica, CA. We are outraged at the fact that
our City is dismantling its Section 8 and Affordable Housing Plans in
favor of developers, corporations and skyrocketing rents that are
economically segregating our city.

Our list of demands include dramatic increases in shelters, especially
during the cold wet weather season and a written protocol for poor and
homeless people for disaster relief efforts in disasters like our 1994

All of us here on the lawn of Santa Monica City Hall pledge our
solidarity with the homeless encampments in Seattle and San Diego. You
may not realize it, but there are over 100 people in San Diego, CA
sleeping on their city hall lawn, demanding what we all need... Our
Basic Human Rights.

We ask you to face this issue with courage and compassion. We ask that
you sleep outside with these people before you make any decision that
might affect them in any manner. We ask that you take a look at the
United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is
applicable law in our United States of America.

We will be publishing articles from the people who will be experiencing
treatment condoned by you and your office. We will also include their
words with our correspondence with United Nations NGO's. We want you to
be certain to know that Street Newspapers across the nation, will be
heralding the public's attention at your treatment of poor and homeless
people, in one of the wealthiest cities in the world.

Aho Mitakuye Oyasin, For All my Relatives
