This article needs no comment, it speaks for itself.

What happened to a person's individual rights??
Or is that just words on a piece of paper.?

Subject: TORONTO: Emergency Meeting!

EMERGENCY MEETING TO DEFEND PANHANDLERS AND SQUEEGEERS!
KENSINGTON YOUTH THEATRE EMPLOYMENT SKILLS
457 RICHMOND STREET WEST
TUESDAY, JULY 21, 6:00 PM

Poor people in Toronto who panhandle or squeegee to survive are facing a
New York City style attempt to terrorize them off the streets.

The cops have gone berserk. They are harrassing people, handing out tickets
right and left, using brute force against defenseless young people. In one
case they went so far as to shoot a man's dog.

City Council, having rejected an anti-panhandling bylaw at committee level,
is now ready to consider the matter at full session at the end of the
month. There is no discussion of what to do about the reasons people are on
the street. Only questions to how to bully the poor into a state of
invisibility seem to interest these people.

In a climate of tension, the Mayor of this City chooses to call for
squeegeers to be forced out of Toronto. He incites hatred and physical
attacks on these people. It could not be more serious.

We call on all labour and community organizations and all decent-minded
people who don't want a repeat of New York City here to come out to the
emergency meeting and plan the desperately needed response.
