WALTHAM, MA - Nine men face charges they gang-raped a woman at a popular
drinking spot near the city's train tracks.

The woman, who is homeless, was attacked Monday night, police said.

Police told The News Tribune of Waltham that the attack began when one of
the men approached the woman and began kissing her arm. When the woman's
boyfriend tried to defend her, members of the group held him down while
others took turns raping her.

Shortly after the woman reported the attack, police arrested three homeless
men, Robert Cruz, 26, Fernando Cabrera, 32, and Ovidio Milian, 36, as they
walked from the area. All three, charged with aggravated rape and
kidnaping, were held without bail at their arraignments in Waltham District
Court on Tuesday.

A dangerousness hearing for the men is scheduled today.

Another three men were arrested Tuesday. They are Reynaldo Juarez, 30,
Oscar Valerio, 30, and Rene Lopez, 26. Police said Juarez and Valerio live
in Waltham, while Lopez is homeless.

They were arraigned Wednesday, but Jill Reilly, a spokeswoman for the
Middlesex district attorney, said yesterday that information on their
arraignments was not immediately available.

Three more men - Delfino Morales, 39, of Waltham, and Rene Fuentes, 54, and
Gutderto Escobar, 37, both homeless - were arrested yesterday and police
said they will be charged with kidnapping and aggravated rape when
arraigned today in Waltham District Court.
