For the record, I am a Scientologist, but I do not proselytize.
Recently another Scientologist subscribed to a bipolar support group
that I am on and made a rather blatant plug of her new book. This was
crass, as it is a support group, and she had made no previous
introduction of herself or discussion of her personal feelings and
history. I did know the woman previously, from a book discussion list,
and had in fact reviewed her book for Real Change. I did not,
however, invite her to join the BP list. I did not defend her
actions, but I did defend the right of Scientologists or anyone else
to freely associate and communicate in public, and be judged on their
individual actions, not as part of a group.
A point which Rosaphilia has totally and completely missed. This is
the second irrational and unfounded attack she has launched on me,
based in no way on my own words or actions, but solely on how she
expects someone of my group to act.
Rosaphilia, how are your actions any different than that of anyone who
abuses the poor, the homeless, or the mentally ill based on
stereotypes? Whatever crimes you accuse the Church of Scientology or
other Scientologists of, not *all* Scientologists are the same, any
more than *all* homeless people or *all* Jews or *all* coffee-drinkers
are the same!
And how in the name of all that is sane and literate could a call for
comments from women activists about their experiences be possibly
interpreted as a front for a cult? Woman, you have a greater
imagination than I do!
And I believe I am talking to a wall, because I cannot believe you
have ever read a dad-blasted word of anything I have written. I don't
know how in the world you ever caught the word "Scientology" in any of
my posts, because every other single thing about me has gone totally
past you.
