U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - 2020 Seminar on
Homelessness - January 14
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will hold a Community
2020 seminar on homelessness at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 1998.
The theme for the discussion is "The Road Home: Meeting the Challenges of
Homelessness." The forum will be held at the Department of Housing and
Urban Development, 451 7th Street SW, Washington, D.C. Keynote speakers
will be the Pulitzer prize-winning author and psychiatrist Robert Coles,
Professor of Social Ethics at Harvard University; Mayor of Detroit, Dennis
Archer; and long-time homeless
advocate Maria Foscarinis, Executive Director of the National Law Center on
Poverty and Homelessness. Representatives from the homeless provider and
advocacy community as well as people who have experienced homelessness will
also be invited to participate in the discussion.

no later than close of business on Tuesday, January 13, 1998, to reserve a
space. Please make plans to arrive early; doors will open at 4:15 p.m.

Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness and the National Coalition
for the Homeless co-sponsor National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness

This will be the 9th Annual National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day on
