Your right we do need to figure out a way the the poor and homeless
could get free access to computers and the internet.Possibley a series
of free public assess computer labs through out the nation.Though the
only way I can see that this would be sucessfully funded is to accept
advertizing on our network.Which dosent nessisarally make it comercial
if every thing gained from advertizing is put back into the network.

> Hey, I hear you, WB! After I graduated from College last June, I I
>started coming in to use their computers because I don't have a
computer
>at home. I was eventually told that I couldn't come in during the day
>because I wasn't a student anymore. At first, I was only allowed to
come
>in after 5:00 pm. Then, they said that I had to buy a $25.00 Alumni
card
>and that I could only use one computer, a old computer that the College
>bought just for Alumni students. I was lucky in that I was being paid
to
>make a web page for one of my groups and I was able to buy the card.
>Otherwise, I would not have been able to access my e-mail or my web
>page. I could go to the libraries, but it is a lottery even getting on
a
>computer, and the they only give you a hour to use it. You can't do
>anything in an hour. So, you're right, "public" computers are not
really
>public. They are public only if you have money. What can we do to make
>computers more accessible to the poor and homeless? If the poor and
>homeless can't get computer skills, they're going to be left behind in
>terms of jobs. Accessiblity for all!!
