LOW-POWER TOWN MEETING [Allston, MA]

Most of you know by now that the FCC has proposed a new class of low-power
radio stations.

We may be able to make this proposal work for communities and not for the
well-heeled, but it will take a well-planned and highly focused campaign.
For that to happen, it's important that everyone be able to understand the
details and then voice their own opinions about it.

I invite you all to attend what will essentially be a Low-Power Town
Meeting where you will be able to learn the details of the proposal, voice
your opinions and help formulate a response to the FCC. Aside from the RFA
crowd, we will be joined by Petri Dish of Radio Mutiny in Phila. and Joan
D'Arc of Radio Free Memphis, who are touring the East Coast on the
Prometheus Radio Tour.

The Meeting will be:

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 7:30 PM AT THE JACKSON-MANN SCHOOL, UNION SQ. IN
ALLSTON, MA

The event will be well-publicized(the Globe already carried something about
it in Thursday's "Radio Tracks" column) and I think well-attended. If
anyone can help distribute flyers, or is willing to be at the RFA/CMC
information table, please get in touch!

We will be contacting legislators and filing formal comments to the FCC,
partially on the basis of what happens at this meeting, and we will show
you all how to do the same.

Communities are _supposed_to have a say in these kinds of processes. Let's
make sure they do.

Please circulate this to others you think might be interested.
