Hi all at HPN,

I wanted to update folks on our tent city. Ah such is things..I caught a =
very bad bronchial cold and was hospitalized with it for five days. =
Thank god for health insurance. Well, at least if someone had to get =
sick it was the person with health insurance. I am recovering nicely, =
now at home *grins*.

The tent city was taken down on December 22, 1999, after we spent one =
month offering shelter to those in need. It was a group decision to =
take down the encampment. We had no permit to protest nor permission. I =
am not sure why they allowed us to stay for so long a period of time. =
We shall continue on with other forms of protest. There was some good =
press and we actually formed a really nice community of folks pulling =
together to survive.

I am still scratching my head as to why they did not arrest or move us. =
This was one of the most moving experiences I have encountered and would =
suggest others erect camps across city or state public property. =20
