HOMELESS MAN ARRESTED IN CHURCH BURGLARIES

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) _ A homeless man was arrested and charged with
stealing money and food from six churches and a church-run day care center
since Nov. 30, police said.

Sheldon Roberto Valesquez, 19, was arrested at 12:15 a.m. Friday after
police saw him go into St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, police spokesman Don
Rimer said.

Valesquez was charged with seven counts of burglary, one count of grand
larceny and six counts of petty larceny, Rimer said.

He was being held without bond. A court date was not set.

Rimer said he did not know how much food or money was taken. The burglar
also slept in some of the churches, he said.
