Mayor Goulding:

I am writing to ask you to support Larry Milligen's request that restroom
facilities remain open 24 hours a day in the San Diego area.

This is an issue that seriously effects homeless people, as well as public
perception of the common humanity between those with and without homes.

Thus, the right to clean, sanitary facilities, in addition to decreasing
the number (and cost to remediate) of infections incurred by an already
fragile population, will go far in reducing public belief that homeless
people choose to be dirty, and choose public urination because of alcohol
or drug abuse...a perception which only extends the sense of separateness
between those with homes, and the poorest of the poor.

This is a matter of health and cost effective service provision; beyond
that, it is a matter of simply recognition of mutual humanity... shared
and understood human need. Shared humanity, Governor Goulding.

Listen, please, to Larry and the demonstrators...they are driven by urgent
need, great commitment, and timeless caring.

They understand that this is such a simply delivered human right.

I, too will direct letters of concern to appropriate congressional
representatives.

Respectfully,
