I find IRC frustrating. I really don't type all that well, and I like
to be able to write all that I want to, then go back and edit before
sending. I also find with email the luxury of being able to think
about a point before I respond -- even go off and look up material.
And I can easily insert material in a post. I'm also not restricted
to the time frame of any of my correspondents, nor are they tied to my
own odd hours.

If you want more immediate communication, though, I am usually online
at the Real Change computer from 10PM to 1AM, westcoast time, and I'll
respond to a direct email immediately. Please don't open a "talk"
line. I have tried them a couple of times. I hate them. As I've
said, I'm really not very good at typing. I'm the fastest
two-fingered typist that ever made a living on computers, and I am
saved from constant embarassment only by my *excellent* proofreading
skills. Which in a "talk" mode let me know instantly what kind of
silliness I have already sent.
