Announcement: Poor People's Summit
Philadelphia, PA
October 9-11, 1998

The Poor People's Summit will take place in Philadelphia the weekend of
October 9-11. The Summit is sponsored by the Kensington Welfare Rights Union
and the North-South Dialogue and hosted by the Temple University School of
Social Work. Over 100 poor people's organizations from around the country
and over 60 schools of social work and other allied organizations are
already scheduled to attend.

The Poor People's Summit is a part of the Economic Human Rights Campaign,
where poor people will continue to document and organize against the human
rights violations occuring because of welfare reform, downsizing and
poverty.

There will be a cultural component to the summit where artists from all
parts of the country will gather to showcase their work as well as come
together to help build a cultural "war council" and this movement to end
poverty.
