     TASC AND ACTIVE RESISTANCE

Active Resistance has begun---a week long celebration of education,
discussion and actions devoted to positive and radical social change. TASC
has not been active in planing it, but we do encourage our supporters to
take part in all or some of the activities of the week.

Among the many workshops offered as part of the free skool are the
following, which are one's TASC members are either taking part in, or feel
a bit more interested/in sympathy with:

Wednesday, August 19th---4 to 6 p.m.:
The Dorothy Day Catholic Worker is presenting a workshop on the Catholic
Worker Movement.

Thursday, August 21st: 10 a.m. to 12 noon:
Jason Adams and Brian Burch of the Industrial Workers of the World are
doing a workshop called 'How to Fire Your Bosses', focusing on radicalizing
the work place.

Friday, Agust 22nd: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Brian Burch and Sandra Lang are conducting a workshop on Spirituality and
Resistance.

All of the above are at the Big Bop, 175 Bathurst St.

A complete schedule of workshops is available upon registration, which is
happening at the Sympton Hall, 160 Clarement Street. Registration is
$35.00/week or $5.00/day. Registration costs include meals provided by
Food Not Bombs.

The major political actions are:

Camp Kyle Rae: An OCAP street camp-out to re-open the closed Salvation
Army shelter.

This will begin on Friday, August 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the south-east
corner of Dundas and Victoria.

OCAP/ARA Squeegee Kid Community Action:

This will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22nd. This rally and
march will focus on the harrassment faced by street youth in Toronto.

END FORWARD
