I rather thought about this incident very hard.

It seems to me one could make an analogy. Say perchance this drug deal =
had taken place during a political speech. I have seen this happen in =
crowds within the park when our mayor was addressing the public. In =
order to avoid a scene, the drug deal was ignored, so as not to interupt =
the mayors speach in progress or to get bad publicity for the television =
cameras. In this sense it was overlooked for the betterment of the =
situation. This same drug deal type situation, seen by a policeman =
should have been handled in a similar light. I am sure he must have =
realized that the folks in the park might become agitated over the =
situation. It is sort of on the same type of senario of yelling fire in =
a crowded movie theatre when the fire is only in the bathroom. I know =
my thinking is different. I wonder if the officer making the arrest was =
a rookie cop, with not too much experience. A majority of experienced =
cops might have backed down or let the situation go until a more ideal =
moment. I am totally apalled by this officers reactions, then the =
overaction of police officers.

On the other hand, I am certain that those in the park may have =
overreacted. I think non-violence training may have helped but most of =
these folks may of been transient people and not connected to any place =
they could have access to the training.

I think it was a big mess that could have been totally avoided with some =
common sense on both sides.
