If you're in training for next month's Bay to Breakers, you might
also want to do some potty training.
It seems that many B-to-B runners are not race-broken.
``Last year, as the race whizzed down Howard Street,'' reports Jack
Fertig, ``many of the runners did their own whizzing on the neighboring
side streets. It's bad enough that the homeless use these alleys for public
toilets, but they have little choice. Middle-class revelers peeing on our
doorsteps is much less excusable. Some of us will be armed with cameras,
and a Web page may go up, with photos.''
It's up to race organizers to provide for runners' needs.
Unfortunately, the newspaper in charge has been found to be lavatorially
challenged. Willie Brown himself declared that paper unfit to be used as
toilet paper.
This year, runners, be warned. Heed nature's call before you start,
or risk being caught on film and tried by a jury of your pee-ers. ------
