CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The homeless and others in New Hampshire without a =
physical address could get a non-driver, photo identification card under =
a process proposed in a House bill.

The bill establishes criteria the individuals must follow to get the =
card from the state Department of Safety. Lawmakers said the process =
will benefit the homeless, recently released prison inmates and others.

Under the bill, applicants must furnish proof of name, age and =
residence. Various documents can serve as proof, including a U.S. =
passport, armed services identification and other government photo =
identification. Other documents also could be used to help support the =
application, such as certified or original birth certificates and =
utility bills postmarked to the person.

The bill requires the state to provide photo identification to inmates =
being released from prison without requiring proof of name, age or =
residence if they don't already have a valid identification card or =
driver's license.

The House sent the bill to the Senate on Wednesday.
