SPRINGFIELD - The body of a 40-year-old homeless man was found downtown =
this morning near the railroad trestle spanning the Connecticut River, =
said Sgt. John Delaney, aide to interim Police Commissioner William J. =
Fitchet.=20

The man was identified as Timothy S. Curtiss, who last resided at the =
homeless shelter at 148 Taylor Street, Delaney said.=20

Delaney said the death appears to be of natural causes, but police will =
not be sure until an the state medical examiner's office conducts an =
autopsy.=20

People walking along the railroad tracks at about 9:30 a.m. found the =
body and called police, Delaney said.=20

Curtiss was pronounced dead at the scene.=20

It is not clear how long Curtiss had been dead, but Delaney said he had =
not been seen at the shelter for two days.=20
