Letters to the Editor

"Don't let Bush pull the curtains on this great country."

Fourth with feeling

Song of freedom: Power preserved in what we trust

Editor, The Times:

Our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner," was written by Francis =
Scott Key nearly 200 years ago. The first verse is sung at many events, =
but how many of us are familiar with any of the other verses?

This is the fourth verse:

Oh, thus be it ever, when free men shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land

Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: "In God is our trust!"

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I hope we all set aside some time on Independence Day to remember the =
motto of our country: In God we trust.

May we appreciate the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for. May =
we remember the principles and values that have been our strength. Today =
may we honor those who still fight for our freedoms.

- Garen Fletcher, Kent Wa.
