Protesters Demand Homeless Assistance

Don't Want Money Diverted To Hurricane Rebuilding

(CBS) CHICAGO They're angry and they took their message right to the office
of House Speaker Dennis Hastert.

Members of the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless say federal needs programs
should not be cut to pay for reconstruction of areas hit by Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita.

They protested outside Hastert's office in west suburban Batavia.

Several homeless families were there as well.

Hastert's office told CBS 2 that congress is committed to holding the line
on spending. Ideas are being discussed, but no decisions have been made.
