TAKE ACTION: Tell Members of the House to Oppose Provisions in =
Affordable Housing Fund Legislation that Restrict Voter Activity!!=20
CALL TOLL-FREE - 1-866-864-NHTF

Please Circulate this Alert Widely

The National Housing Trust Fund Campaign, of which the National =
Coalition for the Homeless is a part, urges people experiencing =
homelessness, homeless service providers, state and local public =
officials, NCH members and all others to call their U.S. Representatives =
and ask them to oppose the provisions in HR 1461 that restrict voter =
activity.   =20

This Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) legislation (H.R. 1461), =
which includes the Affordable Housing Fund, is likely to reach the House =
floor in the next week or two. A House leadership amendment to the bill =
would disallow any non-profit from applying for Affordable Housing Fund =
grants if it has participated voter registration, other nonpartisan =
voter participation, or lobbying for certain types of groups. In order =
to be eligible to receive this money to help build affordable housing =
for people in need, not only would an applicant be restricted from =
participating in those types of activities, they could not even be =
affiliated with an organization that engages in those types of =
activities.

Please Contact Your Representative Immediately!
