Who May Apply

This position is open to all internal and external applicants.

Do you have the commitment and enthusiasm for creating a trauma
informed environment in human services?  Trauma of all kinds impacts
many people who access services through the Agency of Human Services
and community partners.  You will work with senior managers and an
advisory committee to enhance the delivery of human services for those
who have experienced significant trauma.  Use your leadership skills
and expertise to identify and remove barriers to service; establish
best practices; identify training resources for AHS staff and
treatment providers; and create new tools to improve treatment
services for clients and service providers.  Requires experience in a
program administering or directly providing services to individuals
and families who have experienced significant trauma, preferably
including program or policy development.


General Job Description

Planning, program development, and coordination work for the Agency of
Human Services at a professional level involving the development and
implementation of best practice in the provision of services for
people who experience the psychological effects of traumatic events
and/or circumstances. Duties include the development and oversight of
the implementation of a state wide plan for all AHS services to
increasingly reflect a trauma-informed and user friendly approach by
conducting client focused and organization focused needs assessment,
planning to meet identified needs, and evaluation.  Work is performed
with significant independence under the general direction of an
administrative superior.


Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of the psychological effects of trauma history on
service delivery in key human service areas.
Thorough knowledge of the human services delivery system.
Considerable knowledge of best practices in providing trauma-informed
human services.
Considerable knowledge of tools and resources available to service
providers and trauma survivors in Vermont and nationally.
Working knowledge of organizational change and development.
Ability to balance service needs with budgetary constraints and to
effectively justify and defend choices.
Ability to obtain the cooperation, understanding and participation of
a broad range of individuals and organizations in the development and
implementation of program goals.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Masters degree in a human services field.

Experience: Two years at a professional level in a program
administering or directly providing services and supports to
individuals and families who have experienced significant trauma,
preferably including program or policy development.

OR

Education: Bachelors degree.

Experience: Four years at a professional level in a program
administering or directly providing services and supports to
individuals and families who have experienced significant trauma,
preferably including program or policy development.

Working Conditions
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, but with
frequent statewide travel for which private means of transportation
must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be
required.
