Homeless Men Attack Albuquerque Police Officers

July 30, 2005

One Albuquerque policeman said when vagrants attack officers, it's all part
of a typical day on patrol.

Two homeless men are accused of attacking officers Thursday in separate
incidents. One man asked an officer for spare change -- the other said he
couldn't help himself, police said.

Police arrested both men.

Larry Wright, 45, and Ernest Garcia, 29, were booked into the Metropolitan
County Detention Center.

They face charges of battery on a police officer.

Officer James Badway said he doesn't take the attacks personally. He said
after 10 years, he's used to it.
