BURLINGAME - A homeless woman allowed to use the locker-room showers at
Burlingame's Aquatic Center for the past few weeks will have to find a new
place to bathe now that residents have started to complain.

The woman, believed to be in her forties, began coming by the pool a few
weeks ago during off-hours asking to use the showers. The staff, mostly high
school kids on their summer vacation, agreed.

Then the woman showed up during regular pool hours. Other swimmers became
upset and complained to management.

"The pool is not a place where people should come to shower," said
Burlingame Parks and Recreation Director Randy Schwartz.

Schwartz said his staff is working to help the woman connect with public
agencies that are better equipped to provide services to the homeless.
