 Tent-city foes seek restraining order

 Full story:

Opponents of Tent City 4 filed a request for a restraining order yesterday,
but no King County Superior Court judge was available to hear the case.

Tent City 4 is a roving Eastside homeless encampment scheduled to move
tomorrow to St. John Mary Vianney Church on Finn Hill near Kirkland. The
camp has to move from its Woodinville site by Monday.

The group that filed for the restraining order, Citizens for Fair Process,
wanted to stop the move because the church has yet to receive a
temporary-use permit from King County.

The church has filed for a permit, but the process won't be completed until
next month.

The request was too complicated, and was filed too late, to be heard
yesterday, said Ted Hunter, an attorney for SHARE/WHEEL, the group that
organizes the tent city.

Attorneys from both sides said they will try to mediate their differences
tomorrow. A hearing on the restraining order had been scheduled for Tuesday
morning before Superior Court Judge Steven Scott.
