By Staff Writer - The Associated Press - November 05, 2003

HYANNIS, Mass. (AP) - A homeless man was arraigned on Wednesday
for charges he assaulted a homeless acquaintance in a motel room.

David Perry, 37, was arraigned in Barnstable District Court on
charges of kidnapping, indecent assault and battery, assault and
battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest, according
to the Cape Cod Times. He was ordered held on $1,000 bail.

Perry and a female friend were drinking and watching a movie in a
motel room when Perry made an unwanted advance about 3 p.m. on
Tuesday, said Sgt. Ben Baxter, of the Barnstable Police
Department. The woman told police when she declined, Perry became
enraged, forced her to drink vodka and tried to choke her with a
telephone cord, Baxter said.

The woman, whose name was not being released, escaped when she
noticed a friend sitting in a car in the motel parking lot and
she dashed out of the room, Baxter said. The woman's friend drove
her to the Duffy Medical Clinic for treatment.
