Olmstead [AKA Elaine & Lois] Jail Break Toolbox:

Tools & resources to use to help break & keep people with disabilities out
of institutions

Below are some Web links to a portion of the information available online
concerning what is termed the Olmstead Decision: The United States Supreme
Court decision that many in the disability rights community choose to refer
to as the "Elaine & Lois Decision" after the two victorious plaintiffs in
the case, rather than crediting the defendant in any fashion.

Consider these to be additional tools & resources to add to what you &
others may already be using to help break (as well as keeping) people with
disabilities out of the institutions (including homeless shelters or even
the streets and woods, etc.) where they are being jailed and abandoned.

This will only happen of course when we begin building the community-based
independent living systems, services, supports & real housing which will be
required in order to do so.

Now would be a good time to start.

Here's to Freedom & Unity!

In support,
