By Associated Press
WORCESTER, Mass. - A 25-year-old city woman was found dead outside an
apartment building Saturday morning.
Police said the woman, Jennifer Doyon, was found behind a metal trash
container at a Wyman Street building, and that the body had apparently been
moved there from another location.
Detective Lt. John J. McKiernan said the case is being treated as a
homicide, but that death from an overdose has not been ruled out. The body
was sent to Boston for an autopsy.
Doyon's last known address was the People in Peril shelter on Main Street.
Police estimated she died between midnight and 4 a.m., but took statements
from a man who said he heard a woman screaming about 8 a.m. The man said he
saw nothing that appeared out of the ordinary.
Citing client confidentiality, shelter officials would not release any
information on Doyon. But several women gathered outside the shelter on
Saturday said they knew her.
Devenalee Wilson, 33, told the Telegram & Gazette of Worcester that Doyon
was her friend. She said Doyon had been battling addiction and was trying to
stay clean, and had a young child who is being raised by his father's
family.
''We were supposed to see each other today,'' Wilson said, noting that Doyon
had left a detox center the last several days to meet with her.
''She didn't make it,'' Wilson said. ''She wanted to be happy.''
