Come Out for a Sleep Out!

Come to the sleep out this Monday night, June 18
at the Firehouse,
 438 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

Homes Not Jails has taken over and is occupying a former firehouse at 4th and
Massachusetts NW, to create housing for people who need it. The firehouse
was promised to the women living at the Open Door trailers and is now facing
conversion into luxury condominiums.

After a quarter of a million tax dollars invested, and endless promises made,
Mayor Williams’ administration decided that adequate housing for those in
need doesn’t “fit-in” to plans to gentrify the city. The DC government is
selling the property to wealthy developer Douglas Jemal, who owns many vacant
buildings in downtown and Chinatown.

We need your Support! Come out to the sleep out and show your support to
those risking arrest inside the building.
Tuesday morning join us for breakfast and stand in solidarity as the City
tries to evict those fighting for housing justice.
Call Doug Jemal 301-984-8400 and tell him how you feel! Ask him why he’s
stealing housing promised to women experiencing homelessness!
