-Austin's 6th street had citizens respond to an
officer that shoved a person backwards over a
barricade. The city called it a riot as forty people
were arrested.

However when University of Texas RIOTS after a game
the city responds to divert the citizens from the area
in spite of video tapes of violence, no one gets
arrested.

In the same area for the same party in the past years
Mardi Gras celebration netted 22 arrests in 2000. due
to a recent stabbing and outcry by the street people
that the area is unsafe the police grossed over 210
arrests in the three block area of sixth street in the
past two weeks most of the arrests were related to the
nature of established business in the area of the so
called entertainment district. However, the culprit
for these arrests were not fined for there
contribution to the problem. Is that fair?

As a result of the areas reputation the homeless that
I work with have NO desire to affiliate themselves
with that neighborhood and have specified what they
call reasonable conditions, that would permit them to
be assimilated into this city in harmony with the
city.
