Pontiac, MI- Housing Plus, a subsidiary of New Passages, has received three
award letters from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
to purchase and rehabilitate eight homes in Oakland County and four in
Genesee County.  Four homes will be located within the city of Pontiac.
The three awards are for a total of $841,910 and also provide support
services to the people with mental illness who will occupy the homes.

“We are excited to receive these awards because Housing Plus will be able
to help more people with mental illness realize their dreams of independent
living,” said Robert Brassuer, director of Housing Plus.

The mission of Housing Plus is to develop safe, appropriate and affordable
housing through acquisition, new construction and rehabilitation for low-
income persons, particularly those with disabilities.  Housing Plus works
toward that mission through home ownership opportunities, assisted living
and subsidized housing for people with mental illness.

New Passages, headquartered in Pontiac, is a non-profit organization
committed to providing the best community based mental health and
rehabilitation services.  New Passages goal, as a human service
organization is to promote independence and community integration while
maximizing the individual's quality of life.  New Passages provides
services in eight counties at over 50 program sites for 600 people each
year.
